Ozas
Ozas use traditional yoik and modern singing, combined with different styles of music, video, photo, art and acting, aimed to raise awareness, and to criticize and create debates about pressing issues inside and outside the Sámi society.
Ozas means "In the front pocket", the chest pocket in the traditional sámi clothing, a room where you place your most precious and dearest belongings.
Ozas is an audiovisual art project whose core members are the sisters Sara Marielle and Risten Anine Gaup. Ozas mixes traditional sámi joik and modern music with film, installations and artistic expressions like dance. The lyrics are in English or Sámi.
Ozas is a platform for bringing forth to the world the matters that are close to their hearts.
